The Opportunity:

Jump-start your career to becoming a Professional Engineer!

The Thermal Engineer-In-Training Program is a structured developmental program designed to give you maximum exposure to the differing aspects of thermal Operations and Engineering roles at Canadian Natural.

The program includes an initial 1-year Calgary based assignment followed by 2 years in a field-based role. Once the field assignment is complete, a permanent transition will occur into the Calgary office into a Production or Exploitation Engineering role as part of one of our thermal asset teams. Collaboration, creativity, and innovation are keystones of our engineering teams. You will have the opportunity to grow and learn with a multi-disciplined team assisting in your development benefit from direct and in-direct mentorship.

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Upcoming 2026 graduate from a Bachelor's of Engineering Program. Recent new graduates from 2025 will also be considered
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Member In Training immediately upon graduation
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract
  • Familiarity with and understanding of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Oil & Gas experience is an asset, previous engineering work experience as a student is preferred
