Martin North Hospital’s newly established Med/Surg unit on the 2nd floor of the South Tower is a 12-bed unit that cares for a wide range of patients with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for or recovering from surgery.As a New Grad RN Resident on this team, you will assistfellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you willinteract directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed You will play a vital role at the forefront of patient care—serving as a patient advocate, attentive listener, and provider of essential daily needs. It will be your responsibility to escalate concerns when necessary and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, compassionate care.
This role offers tuition reimbursement, preceptorship, shared governance and the ability to take part in the unit practice council. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education, academic advancements and research and quality improvement opportunities, all of which can lead to climbing the professional ladder
A caregiver in this position worksnights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
Seek supervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.
Documentinpatients’ medical records.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
New graduate or less than one year of RN work experience OR experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
