As the 4th largest dealership group in the U.S., Group 1 delivers a fully integrated automotive experience, including vehicle sales, financing, aftersales service, and digital retail solutions. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Group 1 is investing in the people, technology, and operational excellence needed to shape what comes next. Our work is grounded in a simple belief, that a better experience for customers starts with an exemplary experience for employees. At Group 1, our commitment is to keep finding smarter ways to serve our customers and support one another. We believe great careers are built in environments where people are trusted, challenged, and given room to grow. If you share our core values of integrity, transparency, professionalism, teamwork, and respect, you can get more with Group 1. More opportunity. More support. More ways to build a career that moves you forward.

Group1 Subaru is seeking an accomplished, highly motivated New Car Sales Manager to join our leadership team in Danvers, Massachusetts. This is an opportunity for a proven automotive leader who wants more than simply managing a sales desk. We are looking for someone who can lead people, drive performance, develop talent, protect profitability, and deliver an exceptional customer experience while helping take an already successful Subaru operation to the next level.

As part of Group 1 Automotive, one of the largest automotive retail organizations in the country, this position offers the resources and career opportunities of a major publicly traded organization combined with the ability to make a significant impact at the dealership level. The successful candidate will be competitive, analytical, process-driven and highly engaged with both customers and employees. • Lead the new vehicle sales team to achieve monthly and annual volume, gross profit, market share and manufacturer objectives
  • Drive consistent execution of the dealership's sales process from initial customer contact through delivery

  • Maintain strong manager involvement throughout the customer experience, including early introductions, deal progression, TOs and closing
  • Coach, develop and hold Sales Consultants accountable for activity, appointments, demonstrations, follow-up, closing and overall performance
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching and identify opportunities for individual development
  • Recruit, train and retain high-performing sales professionals
  • Develop strategies to maximize new vehicle sales effectiveness and improve competitive position within the market
  • Manage new vehicle inventory, aging, turn and model mix in partnership with dealership leadership
  • Monitor pricing and competitive market conditions and make disciplined pricing recommendations
  • Work closely with the BDC and digital teams to maximize internet lead response, appointment conversion, show rate and sold rate
  • Partner with Finance to ensure strong deal handoffs and maximize total transaction profitability while maintaining compliance
  • Maintain disciplined follow-up on unsold showroom traffic and digital opportunities
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and provide leadership with clear visibility into pacing, opportunities and risks
  • Maintain manufacturer standards and actively support Subaru programs, objectives and initiatives
  • Drive an outstanding customer experience and help maintain strong Sales CSI
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with Group 1 Automotive policies and applicable federal and state regulations
  • Lead by example and help create a culture of accountability, urgency, teamwork and continuous improvement

  • The ability to analyze performance data and translate it into specific actions
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • High personal standards for accountability and execution
  • A customer-first mindset without sacrificing sound business judgment
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume and highly competitive environment

What Success Looks Like:

Our New Car Sales Manager will be expected to consistently improve performance across:

The Leadership Profile:

The person we are looking for is visible on the floor, engaged with customers, respected by the sales team and comfortable being held accountable for results.

You should be someone who:

  • Competes to win
  • Develops people rather than simply manages them
  • Addresses problems quickly
  • Uses data to make decisions
  • Understands the importance of both gross and volume
  • Creates accountability without destroying morale
  • Works collaboratively across departments
  • Takes ownership rather than making excuses
  • Is comfortable operating with high expectations
  • Wants to continue growing professionally
