Job Description

Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital would love to welcome an experienced Neurology Department Manager to our talented Round Rock Neurology Team.

Are you a confident veterinary technician who enjoys leading by example, bringing out the best in others, and helping newer team members grow? If you’re ready to pair your hands-on clinical expertise with meaningful leadership, this could be a great next step for you.

In this role, you’ll lead a dynamic team of technicians and assistants while helping CTVSEH provide exceptional specialty care.

You’ll work closely with our neurologists and shift leaders to coordinate patient care, create a positive experience for clients, and keep the department running safely and smoothly. Just as importantly, you’ll mentor team members, help them build their clinical skills, and foster a workplace where people feel supported as they learn and grow.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of veterinary technician experience
  • Advanced proficiency in anesthetic monitoring
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician designation preferred
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills

Schedule

  • 10-hour days, 4 days per week.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • On-call rotation for weekends and holidays may be required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Help your team thrive: You’ll interview, hire, onboard, train, mentor, and evaluate neurology technicians and technician assistants. You’ll also conduct Technician Level assessments, complete annual reviews and performance evaluations, and connect one-on-one to celebrate successes, address challenges, and support professional growth.
  • Keep patient care moving: You’ll set daily priorities, match technicians with neurologists based on staffing and scheduled cases, adjust coverage as needs change, coordinate support for late emergency cases, and help ensure every patient receives complete, efficient care.
  • Create a safe, compliant workplace: You’ll make sure the team follows proper safety protocols, oversee weekly and annual Cubex drug-log maintenance in accordance with federal controlled-substance requirements, and order or update radiation badges.
  • Build schedules that support the team: You’ll maintain the emergency on-call schedule across both locations, approve time-off requests, adjust staffing to meet hospital needs, and model reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Keep everyone connected: You’ll lead monthly or bimonthly neurology team meetings, arrange educational topics, and take part in team-leader and Hospital Administrator meetings.
  • Make sure the team has what it needs: You’ll monitor job-duty lists, handle weekly inventory ordering, stock surgical supplies and equipment, oversee inventories completed by team members, and coordinate repairs while keeping leadership informed about damaged items.
  • Support better processes and continued learning: You’ll update training manuals, standard operating procedures, inventory sheets, and job-duty lists in coordination with both locations. You’ll also support the Technician Assistant Team Leader with training and share continuing-education conference opportunities.
  • Stay connected to clinical care: You’ll continue performing standard Neurology Technician duties and arrive ready to contribute at the start of every shift.
  • Lead with collaboration and good judgment: You’ll communicate clearly, work well across teams, stay calm and tactful under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, multitask and delegate effectively, learn quickly, welcome constructive feedback, and bring reliability, initiative, and a sense of humor to the work.
