Job Objective:
Performs a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures including electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCV), and electromyography (EMG) support in an ambulatory clinical setting. Coordinates patient flow from intake through discharge, ensuring accurate test performance, documentation, and patient safety. Collaborates with providers and clinical teams to support high-quality diagnostic outcomes and efficient clinic operations. Participates in quality improvement and maintains compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Education:
Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree if hired after May 1, 2026
Preferred: Completion of an accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology or related program
Licensure/Certification:
Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); if assigned to CC7616 Neurology and Neuromuscular Clinic must obtain Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (CNCT) or equivalent within two (2) years of hire
Preferred: Medical Assistant Certificate, Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.)
Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of direct patient care experience or on-the-job training in neurodiagnostic testing
Preferred: Experience performing EEG and/or NCV in an ambulatory or hospital setting; experience assisting with EMG procedures

Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, Ability to lift and move equipment as needed, Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, Ability to operate and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic equipment, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time, Knowledge of neurodiagnostic testing principles including EEG, EMG and NCV, Manual dexterity for electrode placement and equipment handling, Proficient with EMR systems and basic computer applications, Strong attention to detail and data accuracy in waveform acquisition and documentation, Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for waveform monitoring and patient interaction
Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Performs routine and complex EEG studies, including ambulatory EEG monitoring, according to established protocols.
3. Performs nerve conduction studies (NCV) and assists providers with EMG procedures.
4. Prepares patients for procedures, including education, electrode placement, and equipment setup.
5. Documents all procedures and results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Monitors patient responses during testing and ensures patient safety and comfort.
7. Maintains and cleans equipment, electrodes, and work areas according to infection control standards.
8. Coordinates patient flow including rooming, vital signs (as applicable), and discharge instructions.
9. Assists providers to ensure efficient and accurate diagnostic testing without delays.
10. Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement activities, and competency validation.
11. Processes billing charges or credits as assigned.
12. Reports any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel and takes the necessary steps in processing reported equipment.
13. Communicates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative teams to support care coordination.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
