A CNIM IOM Technician is a professional who specializes in Certified Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. They use specialized equipment tomonitora patient's nervous system during surgery, such as the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves, to help prevent nerve damage. This role requires strong technical skills and a background in neurodiagnostic technology ora relatedhealth science By taking on this opportunity, you will be able to strongly enhance your skillsand grow within Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position worksdays from900AM –6:00PM, with on-call requirements
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform IOM monitoring and EP evaluations.
Perform all functions ofaRegistered IOM Technologist.
Perform functional mapping using SSEP,ECOGand cortical stimulation.
Assistin documentation and mapping duringmicro electroderecording.
Perform nerve action potential recordings of peripheral nerves.
Provide technical support for epilepsy staff during implantation of subdural grids and SEEG.
Ensure ECOG during stereotactic depth implantation.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associate's DegreeinElectroneurodiagnosticsor related patient care fieldOR NeurophysiologicIntraoperativeMonitorist(CNIM) credentialed by the American Board for the Registration ofElectroneurodiagnosticTechnologists (ABRET)
Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Certification (CNIM)
Two years of recent experience in intraoperative monitoring
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Knowledge anddemonstratedcompetency of instrumentation, testing protocols, techniques and interventions of intraoperative monitoring and routine EP
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 200 pounds.
Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
