This position provides highly responsible technical support and guidance for trunked radio, voice, and data network communications for all Government departments. Performs complex testing and analysis of all elements of the Enterprise network, recommends and implements solutions for issues concerning all network communications, antenna systems, and microwave equipment.

Your responsibilitieswill include:Assembles, programs, configures, installs, tests and evaluates performance of new network electronics and UPS Systems. Analyzes network data and IP voice issues and takes appropriate corrective actions. Program and operate radio system operating software and microwave systems. Modifies existing network equipment for added functions through upgrades and/or reprogramming. Provides guidance to all Government departments, Elected Officials and other municipalities on network procedure, purchasing and project compliance. Acts as a consultant to address technical issues related to network, design, installation, and planning. Administers IP address selection and assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements:

• Three years of experience in the installation, programming and problem diagnosis of LAN, MAN, WAN networks of all types and configurations. An equivalent combination of education and experience, technical training, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities is acceptable.

• Knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches, VPN hardware, radio dispatch consoles, and gateways.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift light equipment or materials, generally up to 30-50 pounds.

• Adequate vision to perform tasks effectively, including close and distance work.

• Good hearing ability to effectively communicate and respond to auditory cues.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other closely related field
