Job Description

Network Specialist – Fixed-Term Contract (Until End of 2026)

Contract information

This is a fixed-term position until the end of 2026, created to strengthen the team during an important period of network development and operational demand. Depending on business needs and performance, extension or a transition to a permanent position may be possible

Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office in Copenhagen

Connectivity is critical infrastructure. When networks fail, businesses stop operating, payments cannot be processed and essential services may be affected. As a Network Specialist within IP Backbone at GlobalConnect, you will be part of the team safeguarding network stability across five countries. This role is for someone who understands the responsibility of maintaining high-availability infrastructure and thrives in complex operational environments.

This job ad is for you who have:

  • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale IP Backbone or ISP networks
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS/VPN)
  • Experience working with multiple network vendors such as Juniper, Cisco, Huawei or Nokia
  • Knowledge of working within the ITIL framework
  • A structured and precise approach to troubleshooting complex network issues

Requirements

  • Eligibility for Danish security clearance (To be eligible for Danish Security Clearance you need to have been living and working in a NATO/EU country for the last 7 years)
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

About the role and the team

You will join a highly experienced team responsible for GlobalConnect’s active IP network infrastructure across Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Germany.

The team operates as the final escalation point and third-line support for all active IP platforms, ensuring stability and availability of our backbone network. If an issue cannot be resolved elsewhere in the organisation, it is escalated to this team.

Collaboration is central to how the team operates. Engineers work closely together to analyse incidents, prioritise actions and restore services quickly. The team focuses entirely on the technical resolution of issues, while customer communication is handled by the manager, allowing engineers to focus on solving complex problems.

You will be part of a strong technical environment with experienced colleagues, contributing both to operational stability and key infrastructure initiatives during the contract period.

Key responsibilities and what you will do during a typical week

  • Act as third-line support and final escalation point for IP Backbone and active network platforms
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, ensuring 24/7 network availability
  • Troubleshoot complex network incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Execute planned maintenance, upgrades and migrations during scheduled service windows (typically 2–4 maintenance windows per week across the team), which may include night work depending on planned activities
  • Work closely with colleagues across countries to stabilise and optimise the network infrastructure
  • Contribute to long-term improvements, automation initiatives and operational efficiency

Who we are looking for

In a nutshell, we are looking for a technically skilled and responsible network specialist who takes ownership of complex challenges.

You are analytical, structured and calm under pressure. You approach troubleshooting methodically and understand the importance of prioritisation when working in high-availability environments. You enjoy collaborating with experienced colleagues and contributing to the stability of critical infrastructure.

Most importantly, you are motivated by the responsibility of maintaining network infrastructure that businesses and essential services depend on every day.
