Job Description
Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to support security operations across global enterprise and manufacturing environments. This is a strong opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-grade technologies including Palo Alto NGFW, Zscaler, and F5 BIG-IP WAF, while working in environments where security, uptime, and operational continuity are critical. The role focuses on firewall administration, secure access troubleshooting, WAF monitoring, and incident response support across both IT and OT environments.
The successful candidate will assist with reviewing security logs and alerts, troubleshooting access and connectivity issues, supporting approved security changes, and helping maintain secure network segmentation. You will work closely with infrastructure and security teams in a collaborative environment, while gaining exposure to SIEM investigations, OT security practices, and security automation fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities
Palo Alto NGFW
- Assist in managing firewall configurations, including security policies, NAT rules, network objects, and zone settings.
- Analyze Traffic, Threat, and URL filtering logs to support troubleshooting and security investigations.
- Support the implementation of approved firewall changes and maintain accurate documentation.
Zscaler (ZIA)
- Help troubleshoot secure internet access issues such as blocked traffic, forwarding problems, and user connectivity concerns.
- Review security and access logs, collaborating with internal teams to identify and resolve recurring issues.
F5 BIG-IP WAF (ASM/AWAF)
- Monitor WAF alerts and support investigations related to web-based threats and suspicious activity.
- Assist in tuning WAF policies to minimize false positives while ensuring effective protection.
- Support onboarding and testing of web applications behind the WAF, including related documentation.
ServiceNow Incident Management
- Handle incident triage, document troubleshooting activities, and help drive tickets toward resolution.
- Escalate issues appropriately and contribute to post-incident reviews and knowledge base updates.
Enterprise IT & Manufacturing / OT Security
- Support network segmentation and access control initiatives within OT and plant environments.
- Coordinate infrastructure and security changes carefully to maintain operational uptime, safety, and production stability
Required Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in network or security operations, including internships, academic labs, or hands-on projects.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT, and HTTPS/TLS.
- Practical exposure to Palo Alto NGFW policy management and log analysis
- Familiarity with Zscaler policy troubleshooting and secure access concepts
- Experience reviewing alerts, onboarding applications, and performing basic tuning in F5 BIG-IP WAF (ASM/AWAF)
- Understanding of ServiceNow ticketing workflows and operational documentation processes
- Strong communication abilities with a detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting and operations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and OT security principles, including concepts like the Purdue Model and ISA/IEC 62443.
- Exposure to SIEM platforms and assisting with SOC-related investigations
- Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell or Python for troubleshooting and log analysis.
- Relevant certifications — or progress toward them — such as Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Zscaler certifications, or F5 fundamentals.
