The Network Purchasing Team Leader oversees a team of buyers responsible for securing raw materials and finished goods to support uninterrupted production and customer fulfilment or a specific portfolio of finished goos. This role ensures timely purchasing execution, supplier performance, accurate inventory levels, and alignment with planning, logistics, and quality teams. This role will drive daily operational excellence, resolves supply issues, and develops purchasing capabilities across the team. This role will require the ability to work E2E and collaratively acrosss the various supply chaing teams specifically network planning as well as customer service, warehousing, finance etc. As this role will present to senior leaders in the organisation, it requires effective communication skills, results focus and ability to clearly define root cause and action plans.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership — Lead, coach, and develop a team of buyers managing raw materials and finished goods purchasing.
- Material Availability — Ensure all required materials and finished goods are available to meet production and customer demand.
- Supplier Performance Management — Monitor and improve supplier on‑time delivery, responsiveness, and adherence to agreed lead times.
- Purchase Order Management — Oversee PO creation, accuracy, confirmations, and delivery tracking to maintain reliable supply.
- Issue Escalation & Resolution — Lead escalations for late deliveries, shortages, quality issues, and logistics delays.
- Inventory & Lead‑Time Optimisation — Work with planning to optimise safety stock, MOQ alignment, and replenishment parameters.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Partner with production, planning, logistics, and quality to resolve supply constraints and improve processes.
- Data & KPI Reporting — Track and report key purchasing KPIs such as OTD, order cycle time, shortages, and inventory health.
- Process Improvement — Standardise purchasing processes, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supplier Communication Frameworks — Ensure consistent communication, escalation paths, and expectations with suppliers.
- Leading on-site and remote teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Materials/Production/Operations Management or a similar field)
- 7+ years of experience in purchasing and experience leading teams
Skills:
- Excellent communication in English
- SAP MM advanced and key user level required, experience with Kinaxis is a plus
- Experience in purchasing and supplier managament
- MS Office advanced Level
- Experience with change managemet
- Experience coaching and developing teams
- Leadership skills, effective communcaition skills, presentation skills
