Job Description

The Network & OT Specialist is responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of HX’s network infrastructure across ship and shore. The network infrastructure includes satellite communications and onboard operational technology systems. The role works closely with ship management teams, technology partners, and vendors. Daily operations include incident and service request management, maintenance planning, and documentation. Equipment lifecycle management, and the delivery of technology upgrades and refresh initiatives is a key responsibility for this position. Occasional travel to the ships is required and participation in an on-call rota to ensure our global operations and fleet are properly supported.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Network & Infrastructure Management

  • Monitor and maintain corporate and maritime network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot incidents and coordinate vendor escalations.
  • Configure, test, and implement network technologies, firewalls, and connectivity solutions.
  • Support network performance, security, and reliability of all business technology solutions.

Operational Technology & Fleet Support

  • Maintain onboard OT systems including PBX, DECT, VoWiFi, CCTV, and automation platforms.
  • Coordinate maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, and technology refresh programmes.
  • Support ship docking activities and onboard technology projects in partnership with the IT Maritime Project Manager.
  • Travel to vessels and project locations as required to support implementations, upgrades, maintenance activities, and critical operational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with ship management and fleet operations teams to ensure smooth delivery of services.

Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage service requests, change requests, and technology improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with key technology suppliers including satellite communication providers and optimise services and subscriptions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Support service desk teams through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
  • Contribute to broader team and business priorities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Experience in maritime, expedition, or cruise industry beneficial but not required.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networks and infrastructure.
  • Strong networking knowledge including network architecture, engineering principles, cabling, fibre infrastructure, WAN technologies, and routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP).
  • Experience managing Fortinet/FortiGate technologies, Cisco networking solutions (including Meraki, controller-based wireless, ISR/ASR and ASA platforms), and Azure networking tools.
  • Experience using network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark.
  • Knowledge of CCTV, PBX, Node-RED, or similar operational technology platforms is beneficial.
  • CCNP certification preferred; CCNA, AZ-700, ITIL Foundation v4, CompTIA A+, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience managing enterprise networks.
  • Tech-forward and adaptable, with a proven ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience working in a multi-national organisation with a global guest mix.
