Opening in February 2027, the new St. Paul’s Hospital is being built to transform how healthcare is delivered, supported by some of the most advanced digital infrastructure in the country. Elevare Health, powered by PHC Ventures, is now hiring a permanent, full-time Network Operations Specialist as a key member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team who will support the foundation of reliable, secure, and high-performing technology systems that clinicians, researchers, and patients will depend on every day. Working alongside a variety of teams, you’ll monitor critical infrastructure, troubleshoot complex issues in real time, and help ensure the systems behind exceptional patient care continue running when they matter most.

Please note this is a primarily on-site position, with a rotating day and evening shift (8AM-4PM and 2PM-10PM) from Monday to Friday. This posting is scheduled to close at 11:59PM on Friday, July 31st.

What you will be doing

  • Monitoring and maintaining critical network environments Monitoring network infrastructure, platforms, and applications using observability tools to identify performance issues, anomalies, and potential service disruptions.
  • Troubleshooting complex technical issues: Performing real-time incident triage, diagnosing network and system issues, implementing corrective actions, and coordinating escalation with internal teams and vendors when needed.
  • Supporting network reliability and continuous improvement: Assisting with network upgrades, maintenance activities, monitoring improvements, documentation, and operational procedures to enhance system performance, security, and availability.
  • Building the foundation of a new NOC: Collaborating with technology teams to establish processes, dashboards, and workflows that support the successful operation of the new St. Paul’s Hospital’s digital infrastructure.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field, plus three (3) years recent related experience in an complex, networked environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization using industry-standard tools, ensuring peak performance and minimal downtime.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals
  • Troubleshooting knowledge for technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret metrics and detect anomalies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex and break down problems, identify pattens and determine solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively cross-functional team members and external vendors/
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple incidents at once.
  • Demonstrated understanding of related privacy and security regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical information in simple terms.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Exposure to Kubernetes or containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking environments.
  • Experience with JavaScript or Go.
  • Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring tools.

Your day to day:

Reporting to the Manager, Network Operation Centre, the Network Operations Specialist is responsible for real-time monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining network infrastructure, platform and applications environments ensuring maximum availability and performance for multiple, complex network systems. The position provides computer engineering expertise in response to operational issues across the monitored systems with a focus on maintaining situational awareness, identifying anomalies, and initiating incident response procedures with other information system teams, client departments and vendors. This position is required to provide real-time break fix solutions for both routine and complex events. Documents incidents and maintains team documentation. Assists in the development and communication plans and procedures for planned downtime.

  • Provides real-time computer engineering solutions for multiple, complex systems using advanced troubleshooting, programming and networking skills and applications.
  • Monitors network infrastructure, platform and application performance, availability, and security using observability tools and dashboards.
  • Identifies alerts, anomalies and service degradation. Documents in ticketing system.
  • Responds to and resolves escalated incidents in a timely manner following operation policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Performs initial triage, determines incident severity and implements corrective actions. Escalates unresolved incidents to Senior Network Operations Specialist or vendor as required. Coordinates with Vendors to resolve complex problems in real time. Communicates updates to NOC Manager as required.
  • Collaborates with Senior Network System Specialist and other teams for complex issue resolution
  • Participates in operational reviews and post-incident discussions.
  • Documents incidents, resolutions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in applicable systems. Supports the development of frameworks/document for new systems and/or changes.
  • Contributes to the development plans and procedures for planned downtime and disaster recovery. Disseminates communication as per established procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining the monitoring dashboard and alert definitions.
  • Assist with network upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to ensure maximum performance, security and stability of systems.
  • Validates system telemetry and monitoring coverage (e.g., ensuring metrics are being collected, alerts are configured, testing monitoring/alerts.
  • Complies with security policies, regulations and best practices.
  • Participates in team meetings and discussions and provides input on the development of service support and technical procedures and criteria.
  • Supports operational reporting and shift handovers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Assists in development of user and staff instructional materials and instruction.
  • Performs other duties as required.
