Network Investigation Technician – Permanent – Kewdale Depot

This role is responsible for conducting technical investigations of faults and issues across the low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) network. The position involves investigating, identifying, and resolving moderate to complex network problems, including power quality concerns, electric shock investigations, and network switching operations.

Key responsibilities include performing electric shock testing and participating in an on-call roster, undertaking power quality investigations and corrective works, maintaining and balancing the electrical network, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable and efficient outcomes.

Your Role in Action  

• Take personal accountability for safety in the work environment and ensure safe work practises are followed and a safe work environment maintained.
• Plan for work in advance and adapt plan when resources are pulled away for other business priorities or system conditions change.
• During times of escalated fault activity, maintain the integrity of the network with minimal loss of supply. Ensure prompt attendance to faults, isolating the system and taking steps to restore supplies and manage public access as appropriate to the fault type.
• Progress process improvement initiatives to achieve optimal service delivery and safety initiatives by identifying and evaluating opportunities for performance improvement
• Provide technical advice and support to internal and external crews and customers.
• Investigate moderate to complex network problems associated with the LV and HV network, including power quality & electric shocks whilst liaising with the customer to analyse and identify root causes.
• Use advanced electronic recording equipment to capture network power quality issues and technical software to model and design network solutions.

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

• “A” grade WA Electrical Workers License endorsed for Electrical Fitting.
• Mechanical / Electrical Trade Certificate.
• A minimum of five (5) + years advanced technical experience within a particular discipline, preferably in the Networks business.
• Appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency in accordance with the Energy Safety Act 2006.
• Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work alone or within a team environment.
• Knowledge of field practices, procedures, engineering standards and regulations applicable to the Section and Stream.
• Knowledge of distribution and transmission networks and supply requirements
