Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

We are looking for a Network Inspector to join our Alliance team based in Whanganui. This is a key operational role responsible for delivering an effective network inspection regime across the road corridor and carriageway assets, ensuring all contract requirements are consistently met while maximising asset performance and value for money.

You will work closely with the Asset Manager, Maintenance and Operations teams, and wider Alliance partners to support inspection activities, defect identification, treatment selection, and data integrity. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, reliable, and high-performing transport network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure inspections follow the inspection plan and agreed frequency
  • Maintain a clear understanding of asset condition, deterioration, and fault severity
  • Record and manage defects using AWM Mobile, AWM HTML, or other job management systems
  • Support the collection of field data relating to asset condition and faults
  • Assist with data and dispatch cleansing to maintain data integrity
  • Build positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the wider team
  • Ensure all hazard identifications, safety documentation, and incident reporting requirements are met.

Along with your organised and systematic approach, you’ll have a proven track record in network inspection and fault identification/treatment selection, preferably within the maintenance roading industry. You will have the confidence to drive projects, manage relationships and activity to achieve targets. We’d also value:

  • Proven experience in network inspection and fault identification in road maintenance or civil infrastructure
  • Familiarity with maintenance intervention strategies and treatment selection
  • Competence using tablets, AWM or other job management systems, and Go Pro (or similar) devices
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to a high standard of Health & Safety
  • Must be self-motivated, energetic, proactive, and results-orientated with an ability to problem solve, plan, listen and make decisions.
