Business Unit Overview
Our Operations unit is the engine room of Superloop - responsible for maintaining and supporting all of our products and internal technical infrastructure to ensure the best possible service to both our customers and our very own business. Our Operations unit is responsible for ensuring that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.
Role Purpose
The primary goal of the Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the Superloop network in order to provide maximum performance and availability to all customers. The Network Engineer is responsible for building, supporting, and maintaining all devices and services within Superloop’s global network.
Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include:
Implementing network infrastructure.
Proactively monitoring network performance.
Troubleshooting network faults.
Adhering to all network security standards.
Managing and maintaining network documentation and inventory.
Collaborating with other business units where required.
Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
Adhering to all company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Migration of existing services onto newly installed infrastructure within agreed timelines.
Monitor network performance on a regular basis to ensure network reliability.
Plan and execute network infrastructure upgrades to ensure sufficient network capacity to handle increased demand.
Ensure all changes are implemented as per the current Superloop change process and Network Engineering MOP guidelines.
Acknowledge and action support tickets escalated to Engineering Services in a timely manner.
Provide engineering support to NOC, Presales and Provisioning teams within agreed internal response times.
Ensure all required network documentation and inventory has been created and is kept up to date.
Complete all allocated tasks within agreed timelines, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and goals.
Maintain and grow internal relationships with the Network Operations, Service Delivery, Network Provisioning, Presales, Products, Sales and Commercial teams.
Maintain a reasonable level of responsiveness across all SLC communication mediums.
Promote and participate in a learning environment to encourage up-skilling across the network engineering and support teams.
Completion of company cyber security training.
Completion of company workplace health and safety training.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Telecommunications or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a networking related role.
Good knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
Good understanding of ethernet switching technologies.
Good understanding of Multiprotocol Label Switching(MPLS).
Good understanding of IP routing and forwarding.
Ability to work without supervision and in a team environment.
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
The ability to communicate technical information to other business units in a concise manner.
CCNP or equivalent experience will be highly regarded.
