Job Description

General Summary

Responsible for the build, support, administration, and optimization of the network and associated systems software and hardware. Assists in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting network deployments. Conducts routine tests to ensure operability and security of the network. Troubleshoots common network problems and escalates complex/large-scale network issues appropriately.

Job Responsibilities

  • Installs and supports LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems. Apply deep knowledge of industry standards and vendor certifications.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains network infrastructure devices as well as all related hardware and software.
  • Monitors network to maintain integrity and security.
  • Maintains network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
  • Maintains network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
  • Assists in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting network deployments.
  • Conducts appropriate, routine tests to ensure the proper working condition and security of developed and purchased network systems.
  • Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
  • Monitors network performance and performs common network restoration/recovery actions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience administering LAN/WAN network environments.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, and switching fundamentals.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Candidates must have a current Top Secret clearance and possess a Security+ or similar certification that meets DoD 8140 compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA certification.
  • Experience supporting a federal government network environment.
  • Familiarity with network security best practices.

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
