The role:
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Global Network team based in Le-Trait, France. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining global network infrastructure, with a primary focus on the EMEA region. This role requires a technically capable and collaborative individual who thrives in a global, multi-site environment and is committed to delivering reliable, high-performing network services.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure proper delivery of network services within scope to internal clients across global sites.
Evaluate new and innovative technologies and network architectures to drive continuous improvement.
Define and contribute to network design for regional sites.
Maintain and update network documentation for all sites within scope.
Manage network changes and projects within regional remit.
Oversee network device version upgrades and patch management.
Produce technical documentation, reports, proposals, and user guides as required.
Provide training and knowledge transfer to team members on network procedures.
Resolve service desk requests and escalations in a timely manner.
Manage and troubleshoot Riverbed WAN optimisation appliances where applicable.
Lead troubleshooting of major network incidents and performance issues.
Support any additional duties as prescribed by the Eastern Hemisphere Network Manager.

Switches, Routers, Wireless LAN infrastructure
Riverbed WAN optimisation appliances
SD-WAN technologies (e.g. VMware VeloCloud)
VOIP and Unified Communications networking
LAN / WAN technologies
Cisco IOS and Nexus switches
Switching protocols: EtherChannel, STP, VLANs, VTP
Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers
Network management tools: SolarWinds Orion, Cisco ISE, ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA
Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS, OCI
Cybersecurity technologies: Palo Alto firewalls
Load balancing: F5
High latency / low bandwidth VSAT connection environments
Required skills and experience
Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting large heterogeneous enterprise network infrastructure.
Experience working with onshore networks and remote/offshore site installations.
Strong understanding of ITIL methodology or a structured IT best practice framework.
Proven ability to systematically troubleshoot operational incidents on complex networks.
Ability to work within an on-call rota.
Flexible attitude to working hours in a global team environment.
Excellent communication skills in French and English (written and verbal).
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects independently.
Collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach to new technologies.
Nice to Have:
Cisco CCNA certification (or higher).
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on security, standardisation, and rationalisation.
Familiarity with energy sector business processes and IT environments.
Experience with ITIL-aligned service management processes.
