What will you do?

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and documentation of enterprise network infrastructure across Pet Valu. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of network environments supporting retail stores, distribution centres, and corporate operations. The Network Engineer works closely with infrastructure and architecture teams to deliver reliable, future‑ready network solutions aligned with enterprise standards, security, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting, including virtual appliances, server farms, and 3rd party tools (Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, O365, SharePoint, System Security)

  • Install and manage router, cisco switch N9K, firewalls, Meraki SDwan and wireless technologies

  • Extensive experience with Meraki switches and wireless Access Points.

  • Proficient in Cisco ISE, Routing and switching

  • Intermediate skills with Palo Alto firewall

  • Experience/Understanding of SD-WAN

  • Experience/Understanding of Cloud technology and cloud networking

  • Designs, documents, configures, implements, and maintains all network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.)

  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, and VPN design and integration

  • Develop and manage complex projects related to network.

  • Network device patching, backup, and archive

  • Disaster Recovery planning, Anti-Virus, and backup and archive solutions

  • Application related technology support and Help Desk ticket completion within SLAs

  • Monitoring the performance of systems

  • Very good understanding of templating and automation scripting such as Meraki template, Power-shell, Ansible, and Puppet

  • Experience with supporting retail stores and distribution center consider an asset

  • Experience with Voice Technologies (VoIP, SIP trunking)

  • Vendor liaison for hardware and software maintenance, quotes, and SLAs

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and technical training

  • 3–6 years of hands-on professional experience in:

    • Network analysis and enterprise network design

    • Troubleshooting and structured problem-solving

    • Delivering results in fast-paced, operational environments

    • Applying SDLC principles and project management practices

    • Cloud platforms and services, including IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS (Azure)

    • Security and compliance frameworks, including PCI, SOX, and ADA

Preferred:

  • Prior experience supporting retail environments is considered an asset

  • Exercises sound judgement and effective decision‑making in day‑to‑day and complex situations

  • Takes ownership and accountability for responsibilities and outcomes

  • Applies structured problem‑solving techniques to identify root causes and implement solutions

Compensation:

The targeted salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. The final offer will be based on factors such as market location, relevant skills, experience and internal equity.
