The Network Engineer is assigned to a team that is responsible for the network support for the entire computing environment including hardware procurement and deployment, tier 3 system support, project management of deployment and rehab projects, and assigned monitoring and management responsibilities. The role is a member of the IT shared services team that supports a portfolio of privately held companies.

*This role is hybrid, based out of our Indianapolis, IN offices. Qualified candidates must reside within 75 miles of the Indianapolis area*

Essential Functions

  • Provides support for existing Cisco/Arista infrastructure deployments
  • Leads the design of the overall network layout, group wide
  • Monitors IOS versions and schedules updates as required
  • Designs, tests, and deploys Cisco configuration templates as required
  • Designs, tests, and deploys PaloAlto Firewall configuration templates as required
  • Follows and updates process documentation as needed
  • Follows industry best standards to continuously improve network resiliency and performance
  • Documents configuration and monitors various aspects of the network infrastructure.
  • Supports ServiceDesk in resolving escalated tickets requiring specific technical knowledge
  • Provides tier 3 network troubleshooting and support, including on-call rotation, after-hours support
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Information Technology or equivalent experience


Experience Qualifications

  • Required Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Required 5+ years CLI configuration experience with Cisco switches, routers, and ASA’s
  • Required experience with Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE platforms
  • Required 5+ years experience in WAN technologies and routing protocols to include: Aruba Edge, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
  • Preferred experience configuring and maintaining PaloAlto firewalls for all aspects of operation including: IPSEC tunnels, East-West traffic monitoring, Client VPN

  • ITIL based service delivery for Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Capacity Management, and Configuration Management
  • Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to high standards
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues independently. Demonstrates a solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement
  • Employs Think – Plan – Do – Review critical thinking process for all tasks, large and small
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with information systems

  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to gain alignment with different clients and represent a common point of view across multiple stakeholders. Must be confident building business partnerships with various business stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working in a remote location supporting businesses with a decentralized leadership structure
  • Ability to travel as needed


Licenses and Certifications

  • CCNA - Routing and Switching Required
  • Strongly preferred CCNP - Routing and Switching


Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an office environment, behind a desk/computer for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to travel as needed
