Location: Durban

Job Purpose

To facilitate and participate in network planning and to secure, develop and maintain a robust and resilient network of convenience centres and service stations to ensure Engen retains and grows market share and Engen’s image is protected.

What you'll have done before:

Baseline

  • NQF Level 7 (Degree in Commerce, Law, Finance, Property Studies, Urban Planning or related)
  • Valid drivers license
  • 6 years experience in Commercial Negotiations or Project Management
  • Experience in securing tenure for clients in a property portfolio
  • Knowledge of preparing, monitoring and reviewing annual plans and budgets within designated geography
  • Sound understanding of property investment economics.
  • Experience in assessing opportunities and making recommendations on investments
  • Experience with construction teams to ensure optimum project delivery

Advantageous

  • 5 years Engen Retail experience
  • 3 years experience with legal contracts (briefing/interpretation/compliance)

What you'll be doing:

NETWORK PLANNING

  • Facilitate network planning and participate in network planning process to establish short- and medium-term development plans and determine contractual requirements for each outlet in the network.

NEGOTIATIONS

  • Manage Security of Tenure through establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with Engen service station landlords, administering existing contracts, exercising options where applicable and renegotiating expiring supply agreements, lease agreements and other relevant contracts, to ensure Engen's network of service stations and the company's volumes are secured.

PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify development opportunities, perform market and site-specific research, conduct feasibility studies using appropriate tools, calculate project returns and submit proposals for the re-vitalisition, upgrading or redevelopment of existing facilities to optimise the network of service stations.

PROJECT COORDINATION

  • Appoint and manage professionals to procure development approvals to enable development of sites (e.g. town planners, commercial attorneys, licensing attorneys, conveyancers, land surveyors, environmentalists, etc.)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage projects through dedicated project managers, professionals and contractors, coordinate involvement from external stakeholders and business partners such as financial institutions and franchisors, and ensure developments take place in accordance with approvals and budgets.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to travel within area of responsibility
