Job Description

Vault Cloud is the national leader of providing highly secure and scalable sovereign cloud capability to the Australian Government, National Intelligence Community and Critical Infrastructure sector. We pioneered the development of Australia’s only sovereign, hyperscale cloud with security at its core, being one of the first cloud organisations to be Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) certified and we continue to drive innovation, delivering First of a Kind capability across the sector.

As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage. To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. This is an opportunity to join us at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation technological advancement whilst at the same time securing the nation against ever-increasing threats

Want to own the network infrastructure fabric for Australia’s only sovereign hyperscale cloud?

We are seeking a Network Automation Lead to act as our remote technical anchor in the Philippines. In this role, you will lead a team of Network Engineers and bridge technical design and execution. You will serve as both a technical thought leader and an engineering manager, ensuring all network outcomes are delivered as version-controlled, automated infrastructure as code (IaC). This role offers a unique opportunity to engineer secure, cutting-edge cloud technologies that safeguard critical infrastructure while scaling your career into a high-visibility leadership position.

What You Will Do:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead, manage and hold accountable a team of Network Engineers, including hiring, coaching and running a disciplined operating cadence (EOS).
  • Drive High Performance & Team Growth: Partner closely with People & Culture (P&C) to lead talent recruitment and leveraging on core EOS tools to inspire, develop, and coach a high-performing engineering team.
  • Chair engineering design reviews and lead peer reviews of designs and automation code to enforce standards and security controls.
  • Own and evolve network engineering standards, patterns and reference designs, keeping them documented and current.
  • Rapid Innovation: Execute fast-paced Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to validate new network hardware, tools, or cloud architectures before enterprise scale-out.
  • Hands-on Engineering: Engineer and implement secure network solutions to approved designs, working with product teams to turn requirements into execution plans.
  • Product Backlog & Sprints: Break down complex network initiatives into actionable user stories, providing effort estimations (story pointing) within an Agile framework.
  • Plan and prioritise the team's work across delivery cycles

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Expert in one or more datacentre fabric technologies (Cumulus Linux, SONiC, Arista or equivalent), with open-source NOS experience a strong plus
  • Hybrid/Private Cloud Expertise: Strong experience designing and deploying scalable, high-performance cloud networks, ideally on Openstack or equivalent.
  • Advanced Network IaC: Heavy hands-on experience automating networks and firewalls via Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Desirable: Open-source firewalls (pfSense, OPNsense); OpenStack and Neutron; AI infrastructure networking (GPU cluster fabrics, RoCE/RDMA), Fortigate.
  • Location Requirement: Must be currently living and working in the Philippines
