St. Louis County Library
The Information Technology Department is seeking a full-time Network Administrator to install, configure, administer and support the computer network hardware and software to support the mission of the St. Louis County Library.

Salary: $70,571.00
Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
With flexibility when required
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates the management of the wide area network to provide network support for the library.
2. Maintains wide area network hardware to ensure network connectivity between St. Louis County Library Beck Administration Building and Branch locations.
3. Troubleshoots and resolves operational, configuration and connectivity issues with the server operating systems, server applications and network devices.
4. Oversees and maintains “Best Practices” with regard to security on all Library electronic resources, servers, firewall and networking infrastructure.
5. Installs and maintains Internet Access Manager servers.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems
• Knowledge of installing, configuring, supporting and documenting Windows Server software, LAN and WAN environments, PCs, SAN, virtual servers and Cisco routers
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Performance Criteria for the Essential Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates the management of the wide area network to provide network support for the library.
• Trains, provides leadership to, and assists Network Technicians in assigned duties.
• Analyzes existing computer network infrastructure and recommends improvements to maximize network performance within established budget parameters.
• Oversees the configurations, installation, and upgrade of the wide area network as well as video and network servers, as required.
• Provides professional and effective customer service and user support as required.
• Receives and responds to employee inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding area of responsibility.
• Coordinates networking activities and functions with those of other departments and outside agencies as appropriate.
2. Maintains wide area network hardware to ensure network connectivity between St. Louis County Library Beck Administration Building and Branch locations.
• Makes and stores copies of all network router configurations monthly.
• Performs diagnostic checks on network routers on a daily, monthly, and annual basis.
• Plans and provides for adequate back-up, anti-virus, disaster recovery and security procedures.
• Installs, configures, administers, documents and supports computer network hardware and software.
• Reports status of assigned projects and makes recommendations to the Assistant Director, IT for wide area network improvements.
• Proactively maintains network-monitoring software and reports difficulties in network productivity.
3. Troubleshoots and resolves operational, configuration and connectivity issues with the server operating systems, server applications and network devices.
• Researches and obtains quotes from vendors for network hardware, software and peripherals.
• Maintains the DNS, Network Monitoring, and DHCP servers and appliances, performing upgrades and technical support, as required.
• Provides diagnostic checks on all network servers, weekly and monthly.
• Monitors, documents and conducts adequate back-up, anti-virus, disaster recovery and security procedures for network servers.
• Oversees the process of recommending and implementing authorized network updates, as needed.
4. Oversees and maintains “Best Practices” with regard to security on all Library electronic resources, servers, firewall and networking infrastructure.
• Maintains filtering hardware/software for the internet and administers the list of approved internet sites.
• Maintains the firewall for the St. Louis County Library to provide security for all electronic resources.
• Maintains the computer configuration control software to maintain security on public and staff computers.
5. Installs and maintains Internet Access Manager servers.
• Oversees and configures the Internet Access Manager software on signup and print release stations at the branches.
• Provides professional and effective customer service and user support for the Internet Access Manager server as required including server maintenance.
