Network Administrator – Palo Alto

Location: Grapevine, TX – Hybrid

Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with some after-hours/on-call support - Onsite 4 days per week/ Remote 1 day per week

Reports To: IT Director

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Network Administrator / Engineer to support and improve a multi-site enterprise network environment. This role will have primary responsibility for network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama management, routing and switching, VPN connectivity, datacenter connectivity, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.

This is not a highly siloed network position. The ideal candidate has broad technical ability, strong ownership, and the ability to independently troubleshoot real-world production issues. While networking is the primary focus, this person will also work across adjacent infrastructure technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, and other core IT services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, including policies, NAT, VPNs, traffic logs, HA configurations, segmentation, and security improvements.
  • Support enterprise routing and switching environments using Juniper and/or Cisco technologies.
  • Support LAN/WAN, datacenter, remote-site, site-to-site VPN, and third-party connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues involving firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, servers, applications, and network connectivity.
  • Use firewall logs, packet captures, routing tables, interface counters, and monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Monitor network availability, circuit health, firewall performance, VPN tunnels, and site connectivity.
  • Plan and execute network changes with appropriate testing, validation, maintenance windows, and rollback procedures.
  • Work directly with vendors and carriers to resolve circuit, hardware, firewall, and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain network diagrams, IP addressing, firewall rules, VPN documentation, circuit records, and support procedures.
  • Assist with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V, and other infrastructure technologies as needed.
  • Participate in production support, after-hours maintenance, and an on-call rotation.

Required Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama firewall management – required.
  • Strong enterprise routing and switching experience. Juniper is preferred; strong Cisco experience is acceptable.
  • Experience with routing, switching, firewalling, VPNs, NAT, segmentation, and high-availability environments.
  • Strong production troubleshooting skills across network and infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience supporting multi-site LAN/WAN environments, datacenter connectivity, remote locations, and redundant circuits.
  • Ability to independently investigate issues using logs, packet captures, routing tables, monitoring tools, documentation, and other technical resources.
  • Experience working directly with vendors, carriers, and technical support providers.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support.

Preferred Experience

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and/or Hyper-V.
  • SolarWinds, FortiMonitor, PRTG, or similar monitoring platforms.
  • PowerShell, scripting, or automation.
  • Backup/disaster recovery, vulnerability management, SOC 2, ISO, or NIST environments.
  • JNCIA, JNCIS, PCNSA, PCNSE, Network+, Security+, or related certifications.

What We’re Looking For

This team places more emphasis on technical depth, ownership, and problem-solving ability than certifications or a specific number of years of experience. We are looking for someone who understands how and why networking technologies work, not simply how to configure them.

The strongest candidate will be comfortable taking ownership without requiring detailed instructions, while also recognizing when additional research, documentation, or collaboration is needed before making a change. Experience working in both smaller, hands-on IT environments and larger enterprise organizations is particularly valuable.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being a broad, hands-on infrastructure resource rather than working within a narrowly defined or heavily siloed network team.

Benefits

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, telemedicine, company discounts, and additional employee benefits. The environment provides opportunities for hands-on work with modern technology, professional growth, and work/life balance.
