Australian citizenship required. Must have an active Negative Vetting Level 1 (or higher) security clearance.

Four suitably qualified and experienced .Net Developers (4) are sought to deliver and support a range of ICT projects and programs.

The developers will work with the project team to uplift existing code and deliver requirements for enhancements and improvements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Participating in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to develop and enhance C# based, n-tier, enterprise software and associated documentation in accordance with AEC Standards.

  • Developing automated application build and deployment scripts using .NET (Framework and modern .NET), and the broader Microsoft technology stack.

  • Following the Agile Methodology for software development using tools such as Azure DevOps.

  • Liaising with technical and business area staff to facilitate the rapid resolution of issues and/or faults within fielded production.

  • Providing analysis on complex issues and contributing to the management, preparation, and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.

  • Developing and supporting key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals and represent the agency by promoting its interests in various forums.

  • Providing accurate specialist advice, guidance, and reporting on team functional responsibilities.

  • Making and communicating decisions using good judgement, expertise, and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures.

  • Contributing to doctrine, election preparation and delivery activities in accordance with the election readiness framework, according to individual accountabilities and responsibilities.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required and directed by the relevant Director/Team Leader or delegate.

About the Team

Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD)

The CIOD is responsible for delivering robust ICT functions and capabilities, maintaining election-ready systems, and delivering an ambitious ICT transformation and modernisation agenda.

The CIOD leads and supports a range of AEC projects/programs including, but not limited to, the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program) and the Funding and Disclosure (FAD) Reform Program.

Platforms and Application Development Branch (PaAD)

The Platforms and Application Development Branch is responsible for the support, enhancement, and modernisation of the AEC's enterprise and election critical applications. The branch delivers capabilities across application development, integration, data, cloud, operational support, and modern engineering practices.

PaAD works across multiple technology domains to ensure AEC systems remain stable, secure, scalable, and aligned with evolving electoral, legislative, and organisational needs. The branch partners closely with business areas to uplift platforms, replace legacy systems, support application lifecycle management, and drive continuous improvement across ICT delivery.

The work undertaken by PaAD includes modernising technology stacks, improving application reliability, strengthening cyber resilience, uplifting DevOps and cloud capabilities, and ensuring the AEC's digital platforms remain contemporary and fit for purpose.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria


  1. Demonstrated experience with Agile Software Development Methodologies and documentation.

    Experience with Visual Studio.

    Backend development experience using web API and SQL technologies.

    Demonstrated experience in SDLC.

    Strong experience with automated build and deployment scripting in .NET (Framework and modern .NET).

    Demonstrated experience with cloud-based applications development.

    Ability to produce well designed, documented, and testable code.

    Peer review of developed products and scripts.

    Knowledge and experience in successfully setting priorities and delivering quality results on time and on budget.

    Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.

    Proven analytical abilities with the ability to propose and facilitate change and contribute to business improvement strategies.

    Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.

    Proficiency in using various IT applications and project management tools, including the MS Suite, Azure DevOps, and Miro or similar.

Pages 3 - 5 - A resume of no more than three pages. We will strictly adhere to the above requirements. Submissions will be deemed non-compliant if they do not meet the listed criteria, if they exceed the 5-page limit or if the rates of submitted candidates

Desirable Criteria


  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (or other relevant discipline).

    Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.

    Experience in Cloud-based technologies.

    Experience in technical analysis and design.

    Experience implementing integration requirements to perform end to end solution designs.
