Seeking board eligible or board certified nephrologist to perform professional medical work in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of Nephrology patients in the chronic dialysis unit, nephrology clinic and hospital service. Works with clinical staff, fellows, and advanced practitioners to provide Nephrology care with an emphasis in chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, fluid/electrolyte disorder and dialysis. Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. Performs testing, referral to other specialists as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs administrative procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient. (10%)
  • Treat internal disorders, such as chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, or kidney stones. (10%)
  • Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. (5%)
  • Manage and treat common health problems, such as infections, influenza or pneumonia, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses, in adolescents, adults, and the elderly. (5%)
  • Provide and manage long-term, comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of diseases, for adult patients in an office or hospital. (5%)
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients. (5%)
  • Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. (5%)
  • Make diagnoses when different illnesses occur together or in situations where the diagnosis may be obscure. (5%)
  • Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary. (5%)
  • Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary. (5%)
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, or examination results. (5%)
  • Provide consulting services to other doctors caring for patients with special or difficult problems. (5%)
  • Advise surgeon of a patient's risk status and recommend appropriate intervention to minimize risk. (5%)
  • Immunize patients to protect them from preventable diseases. (5%)
  • Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. (5%)
  • Prepare government or organizational reports on birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or the medical status of individuals. (5%)
  • Conduct research to develop or test medications, treatments, or procedures to prevent or control disease or injury. (5%)
  • Plan, implement, or administer health programs in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses. (5%)


Education

  • Doctorate Degree Required


Work Experience

  • Completion of nephrology fellowship, clinical experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, and outpatient dialysis clinic

Licenses

  • MD/DO-Physician - State Medical Board Required

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
