The theatre is open 365 days a year with holidays being some of our busiest times. While we work with everyone to make sure they have time with their families, we also must make sure the theatre is staffed.
Job Overview:
The Cleaner is responsible for the regular upkeep of the theatre location, ensuring a clean, tidy, and sanitary environment for all employees and guests. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks, including but not limited to, cleaning auditoriums, restrooms, and common areas, as well as trash removal and spill cleanup. Cleaners are expected to work efficiently with minimal supervision and maintain a stock of cleaning supplies.
Hours: This position may require working during non-operating hours (after closing or before opening) to maintain public areas. This job requires you to work during the evening, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of the building through routine cleaning procedures.
- Ensure all auditoriums are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for guest occupancy.
- Perform floor care duties, including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
- Maintain cleanliness and adequate stocking of restroom facilities.
- Secure all the building access points by ensuring doors are locked after operating hours.
- Address spills promptly and effectively using appropriate equipment and supplies.
- Report any requirements for major repairs to the facility manager.
- Collect and dispose of waste materials in accordance with established procedures.
- Execute assigned tasks efficiently and independently within established timelines.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies.
- Perform additional duties as directed by management.

QualificationsGeneral

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old at the time of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to notice small details.
- Ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Willingness to learn and apply basic cleaning methods and the safe use of cleaning products.
- A positive and proactive approach to work with a strong work ethic.
- Previous janitorial, housekeeping, cleaning, or similar role experience preferred.
- Must be willing to obtain R-Serving (for candidates 21+), Food Handler, and/or Food Manager certifications in accordance with state, county, and location-specific requirements.  Religious exemptions are available upon request with written documentation for liquor liability certification.  All required certifications will be paid for by the company.
Essential Functions
- Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, and wiping surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, and other high-use areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, furniture, fixtures, glass, and equipment.
- Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and cleaning agents.
- Safely use and store cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Operate cleaning tools and equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
- Maintain organized and stocked supply areas.
- Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work assignments or issues.
- Work independently and manage time efficiently to complete assigned tasks.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during a work shift, with limited opportunities to sit.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to clean various surfaces and spaces.
- Ability to lift, move, stock, and transport boxes of supplies or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds safely.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive motions and cleaning tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in environments with variable noise levels, temperatures, and exposure to cleaning agents.

The Beginning

B&B Theatres stands for Bills and Bagby, two families that both launched movie theatres and joined forces-for business and love-in 1980.

The history of B&B stretches back to 1924 when Elmer Bills, Sr., bought the Lyric Theatre in Salisbury, MO, and founded Bills Theatres. It was there that he met his future wife, Johnnie, while she played the piano along with the silent movies. Years later, their son Elmer Bills, Jr., was born into the business.

In 1936, the elder Elmer hired 10-year-old Sterling Bagby as a concession clerk. Sterling grew up, fought in World War II and came home to marry his Higbee, MO ticket seller, Pauline. Together, they started the Bagby Traveling Picture Show and roamed rural Missouri with their films, projection equipment, seats and snack bar. The Bagby Traveling Picture Show screened movies in barns, schools and parks. Eventually, Sterling and Pauline's company evolved into a Kansas circuit of drive-in theatres and "hardtops" (their nickname for indoor theatres).

Meanwhile, young Elmer Bills, Jr. had met his wife-to-be, Amy, when both were 13 (he lovingly refers to her as "the best popcorn girl I ever hired") and gone on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1959. Elmer and Amy joined his parents Elmer Sr. and Johnnie and continued the expansion of Bills Theatres, Inc.
