The Data, Business Operations and Technology Branch is the central data and analytics, information technology, shared services, property, cyber and security team within the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), responsible for a broad range of critical agency functions.
By providing leadership in evidence-based decision-making, the Branch plays a pivotal role in supporting NEMA’s policy and programs and enabling corporate services to effectively support staff.
The Director of Data and Analytics, works closely with business areas across NEMA to identify current and emerging data needs, risks, and opportunities. The role provides leadership, subject matter expertise and strategic direction for data strategy, governance and the effective management of data across the agency.
The Director is responsible for defining and implementing initiatives to improve NEMA’s data maturity including agency-wide data literacy programs and strategic risk management across the data asset lifecycle. The role also leads a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-value data products, analytical platforms, and geospatial services that support operational and strategic outcomes.
The role partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data is trusted, secure, and appropriately accessible, enabling high quality, evidence-based decision-making across the agency. Operating in a dynamic environment, it requires flexibility to respond to emerging priorities, including security-related matters.
This role is located in either our Brisbane, QLD or Canberra, ACT offices. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated in accordance with our Enterprise Agreement and the operational requirements.
At times, staff within NEMA may be required to work outside of standard business hours, particularly during the higher risk weather season.
