
Our client, a leading Civil & Utilities organisation, is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial function on major civils infrastructure projects based in Dublin This role is crucial to the successful delivery of high-value public works, with responsibility for contract management, cost control, and commercial reporting. The Commercial Manager will collaborate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure all project activities are delivered on time, on budget, and within regulatory and contractual frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial background in civil engineering, with specific experience managing NEC4 contracts, and the ability to lead all aspects of financial and contractual delivery for complex infrastructure programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full commercial lifecycle of civil infrastructure projects, from pre-contract through to final account.
Oversee the administration and compliance of NEC4 contracts, including change control and risk management.
Lead on cost planning, forecasting, and value engineering to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements in line with procurement policies.
Handle all claims, variations, and commercial disputes with a strong focus on resolution and compliance.
Provide commercial input into project reporting, including financial performance, KPIs, and earned value analysis.
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to track progress and manage commercial risks.
Ensure that all commercial activities meet statutory and regulatory obligations.
Promote a culture of accountability and best practice in contract and cost management.
Role Requirements:
A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial management role within civil engineering or public infrastructure.
Proven experience working with and administering NEC4 contracts
Strong knowledge of procurement, cost control, construction law, and dispute resolution.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Full driving licence and flexibility to attend project meetings and site visits as required.
