NDT Specialist

An opportunity to support the continued growth and development of the Special Services Non-destructive testing product, as part of the continuing hugely successful growth of AEIS.

The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain a profitable, fee-earning service, providing specialist non-destructive test solutions, and specialist services within the scope of the discipline. The scope of services will include the provision of all types of non-destructive test techniques covering all aspects of plant currently inspected through the in-service inspection portfolio, as well as other plant as required by the client portfolio.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £70,000 per year.
Your pay will be based on your experience, skills and location, and forms part of our total rewards package.

About You

You will be providing technical excellence and market penetration in all Non-Destructive Testing areas, providing solutions for clients, and aiding them in their compliance requirements. Oversight and control of all AEIS NDT requirements, supervision of suppliers.

  • Under the direction of the Special Services Manager, develops and maintains a commercially profitable service through project management of selected business partner(s) and approved sub-contractors, or engineer surveyors. For the provision of specialist services within the relevant discipline to support our core in-service inspection clients.
  • Draws up, certifies and approves procedures in line with relevant company procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Carries out surveys and performs technical audits on behalf of Special Services and Engineering Standards.
  • Produces and maintains scopes of work, procedures, reports and other supporting technical documentation in accordance with the requirements of Company quality systems.
  • Acts a Company representative and provides specialist technical advice to internal and external customers.
  • Acts a Company representative and provides specialist technical advice to external committees such as SAFed and PCN as required.
  • Carries out client presentations, internal and external technical training/awareness programmes in order to support the provision of specialist services, together with the production of marketing material.
  • Provides detailed monthly accounts for the provision of selected specialist services

Essential Skills

  • Suitable experience, post-training apprenticeship in an NDT role and continued competence at this skill.
  • Supervisory experience in the NDT field including auditing and assessment of third parties’ work.
  • Ideally previous experience in the engineering inspection field, having carried out or supervision of inspection activities within a field-based environment.
  • Experience of the health and safety regulations applicable to the inspection industry, including detailed knowledge of the role of the competent person and these activities.
  • ASNT/PCN Level 3 in multiple discipline (or willingness to achieve) in multiple disciplines
  • PCN Level 2 qualifications in MPI/DPI/UT (Nozzles or T sections) as a minimum
  • Safed Boiler qualification
  • Knowledge of Inspection compliance markets.
  • Communication and Negotiation skills
