Under the direction of the NCCER Construction and Education Manager, the part-time NCCER Trades Instructor is responsible for teaching basic construction skills to participants with varying academic levels by integrating skills that will help them in preparing for the skills program and transition to construction career pathways, apprenticeship programs, military, and employment. The areas of instruction will consist of the following areas: Basic Mathematics and NCCER Core Curriculum and Leeds v4.1.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to engage, coach, mentor, and guide trainees toward personal goals.
Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to participant development in a high quality, respectful environment.
Provide excellent client service. Knowledge of Construction Math area of study.
Proficient in diagnosing, assessing, and evaluating the strengths, functional levels, and ready for trainees to transition careers.
Knowledge of various effective teaching techniques.
Effective classroom and individual communication techniques.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Access) and Internet (browser, search engines).
Electronic communication (e-mail, social networking, etc.).
Perform other related duties as required.
QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
The ability to work in a multicultural environment of underserved and underrepresented communities.
Experience working on or with Construction sites.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
NCCER Certified.
Knowledge of the NCCER Core Curriculum.
Construction Math preferred.
Ability to acquire Fingerprint Clearance card.
Strong classroom facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft products and database management.
Experience working with a diverse population.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Superior people skills, including strong speaking and writing skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience: 1-year related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of both).
Preferred Experience: 3 years' related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of both).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
Able to drive to off-site locations; requires a current Arizona driver’s license, a clean driving record, auto insurance (certain level of coverage is required to receive mileage reimbursement) and a trustworthy vehicle needed.

Dress code is professional/casual and comfortable; no sandals or open shoes allowed, steel toed boots on jobsite recommended, and company shirts will be provided.
