The current position is for a engineer with a strong academic record, preferably a master’s degree or higher, with an emphasis on Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering for offshore structures for Renewables and Energy markets. The engineer will work within a large, supportive team on the analysis of all types of offshore structures for in-place conditions and for marine operations, such like float-over installation projects.
With the support of experienced team members, the engineer will develop a strong initial grounding in the discipline and gradually develop expertise in a wide range of static & dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis, and advanced nonlinear analysis. There will also be an expectation develop and use programming and coding skills to contribute to the section’s Digitalisation initiatives, such as Hybrid Twin and Digital Twin services. As such a proactive approach to personal development will be important.
It is critically important that the engineer is able to interpret data from various sources and develop the most appropriate analysis approach required for the task in hand. This may require the preparation of detailed finite element models but also frequently conceptual first-principles models to understand the phenomena being studied. A strong ability to break down a problem into the component parts and undertaking appropriate self-checking of the results obtained is very important.
The engineer will develop to be client facing and will progress to actively managing their own projects. The engineer is expected to prepare accurate technical reports and will support senior engineers with tenders and proposals. Aside from technical work, attendance at meetings and preparation and delivery of presentations will be required.
An enthusiastic and cooperative approach to working with other members of the team is vital. Over time the engineer will develop a strong understanding of the interplay between their area of specialism and the various engineering disciplines that contribute to an overall project
