
Description
Assists in the implementation of Natural Resource Management Plans for Park District reservations. Assists with wetlands maintenance, nest box upkeep, invasive plant control, brush clearing, and field mowing. Assists with the prescribed burn crew. Participates in data collection and assists with various resource monitoring projects. Works individually or with park staff and volunteers in all weather conditions. Performs related maintenance tasks as apparent or assigned. This position may be used to fulfill internship requirements.
Pay Rate: $14 to $15 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Hours: Up to 39 per week.

Requirements
Must have a strong interest in resource management, forestry, wildlife, fisheries, or related field. Individuals either possessing or working towards a degree in one of these fields will be given preference. Must have a working knowledge of local flora and fauna. Experience with power tools, agricultural equipment, or construction equipment is a plus. Must be willing to apply herbicides within park natural areas.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
