Do you love solving complex environmental challenges, working outdoors as much as in the office, and making a real impact on the management of public land?

We're looking for a passionate and driven Natural Resource Management & Heritage Project Officer to join our team and help protect, restore and sustainably manage some of NSW's most valuable Crown land assets.

This is not your typical desk job. One day you could be undertaking a field inspection in a stunning regional location, the next you're consulting with stakeholders, assessing environmental impacts, reviewing heritage considerations, or providing expert advice that helps shape land management decisions across the state.

The role

You’ll provide practical advice on land, environmental and heritage matters that help shape how Crown land is managed and used. From site inspections to project work, you’ll balance competing priorities and navigate complex legislation and policy to provide clear, workable solutions.

You’ll also work closely with stakeholders to undertake land and asset management projects, review proposals and ensure all legislative, environmental planning and natural resource management obligations are properly considered. This means making sound recommendations, managing risks and supporting outcomes that benefit communities across NSW.

What you will bring to the role

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, high volume and dynamic work environment.
• Solid time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Communicate complex environmental and land management matters clearly to diverse stakeholders, supporting informed decisions and collaboration.
• Analyse issues and develop practical solutions that balance legislative requirements, risks and competing priorities.
• Deliver project outcomes by planning, coordinating and supporting land management initiatives across Crown land.

What is an essential requirement:

• Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resources, planning or other relevant field and/or equivalent professional experience.
• Current driver's license and willingness to travel, including overnight travel where required by the Department
