We are currently looking for a Natural Gas Portfolio Optimization Trader, who will assure accurate strategy development and execution to optimize the company's natural gas portfolio. The Portfolio Optimization Trader will be responsible for the Natural Gas physical and financial trading and exploration of supply and wholesale opportunities in the domestic and foreign markets, ensuring accurate reporting of position and profit and loss daily.
What will you do:
- Develops strategies and executes trades to capture portfolio optimization targets.
- Actively monitors and communicates pipeline gas opportunities across the region ensuring cost minimization and security of supply.
- Executes Natural Gas physical and financial trading opportunities within European market areas.
- Provides quantitative and qualitative market analysis, performance reporting, and insights to support trading decisions across the desk.
- Analyzes historical market and trading data to identify patterns, drivers, and opportunities, translating findings into actionable input for trading strategies.
- Designs, develops, tests, and documents analytical models, valuation tools, and reporting solutions to support proprietary trading and supply strategies.
- Captures all relevant trade data in the appropriate systems and creates operational and financial reports as required.
- Explores and makes improvements to market models and algorithms.
- Assists with maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as gas supply counterparties, Natural Gas System Operators, Legal, Audit, Procurement & Finance departments.
What you need to be successful:
- A BSc in Engineering or Economics field
- A MSc in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business or an MBA will be considered as a plus
- At least 0-3 years of relevant working experience in similar position in relevant sector/area
- Energy Exchanges certificates would be considered a plus.
- Experience with ETRM system would be considered a plus.
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office & Python.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
- Experience in quantitative analysis and model development, with the ability to support forecasting, optimization, portfolio monitoring, and operational decision-making.
- Knowledge of European gas markets and global LNG market structures would be considered a strong advantage.
- Strong IT literacy, with advanced knowledge of analytical tools, data management systems, and preferably coding/programming languages.
- Good understanding of business processes, operational workflows, and data management requirements within energy or commodity markets.
