Job Description

Are you passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and are educated in nutrition and wellness? We are currently seeking a Natural Choice Advisor to join our team.

The Natural Choice Advisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Natural Choice department within the designated store(s). Provide our customers with an exceptional level of customer service and education on Natural Products which will position Calgary Co-op as a respected market leader in the local community

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutritional education and information to customers on the aspects of natural products. May include developing and or presenting to or at consumer /community events.
  • Provide customer service and maintain positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and provide expert advice.
  • Keeping up to date on industry standards and trends.
  • Work closely with the pharmacy team to deliver the Whole Health experience within Calgary Co-op.
  • Effectively work in a diverse team environment in a proficient, friendly and productive manner.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
  • Responsible for ordering, merchandising receiving orders, verifying invoices, returns, transfers claims and proper storage of products.
  • Participates in department work plans, budgets, shrink control and inventory within the Grocery guidelines and policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring the sales floor and back stock area are kept clean and free of debris.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies and any related material.
  • Participate in the development and action od yearly competency performance work plan(s) and development action plan(s).
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), including participate in HSE activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with HSE policies, procedures and legislation, assist in identifying unhealthy, unsafe and ensure corrective action is taken.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and ability to educate on vitamins, minerals, probiotics, homeopathic and herbal remedies, and nutritional supplements.
  • Natural Products certification from either The Canadian Health Food Association or Natural Product Advisor program from the Alive Academy. If candidate does not have this requirement, they have 1 year from their effective date to complete this requirement. This is a condition for continued employment with Calgary Co-op.
  • Possess a high level of customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to work shifts (including evenings and weekends as required).
  • Flexibility to work at multiple stores.
  • Must have a passion for a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and wellness.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous retail or sales experience in the health food industry is a definite asset
