This role provides strategic leadership in evaluating and advancing national and regional transportation initiatives to optimize final mile performance. By partnering across operations, sales, and technology teams, the role focuses on reducing cost per case through the design of efficient, consistent, and sustainable delivery route strategies that strengthen operational effectiveness and create long-term value.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct quarterly reviews to identify and implement opportunities that improve routing efficiency, reduce delivery expense, and optimize equipment utilization.
Lead the implementation and administration of routing tools such as Territory Planner and Roadnet Routing Platform, ensuring accurate data, timely updates, and efficient fulfillment paths to customers.
Develop and maintain national routing best practices, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment across all regions in USBL.
Audit customer delivery frequency and volumes to optimize delivery schedules, balance volumes, and reduce both equipment needs and environmental impact.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Sales, and Technology, to integrate automation, streamline processes, and support business objectives.
Support operating sites with contingency planning and conduct cost analyses for new customers to ensure effective, sustainable routing solutions.
Create and manage reporting structures (ODI, KPIs) to monitor performance metrics such as pieces per truck, pieces per mile, fuel usage, and cost per case.
Qualifications:
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Required: Personal experience in transportation operations or route optimization
