Job Description

Join Aspen Medical’s Defence & National Security team as our National Roster Manager, leading workforce deployment, scheduling and rostering across complex, nationally distributed healthcare workforces. Working closely with National and Regional Operations, Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Clinical Services, you will ensure the right people are deployed to the right locations at the right time to support safe, sustainable and contractually compliant 24/7 service delivery. This is an influential operational leadership role with responsibility for roster governance, workforce utilisation, coverage, surge response and scheduling performance across metropolitan, regional and remote environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of national 24/7 rostering and workforce deployment, ensuring appropriate workforce coverage across all service delivery locations.
  • Establish strong rostering governance, standards and controls, ensuring compliance with employment arrangements, awards and EBAs, fatigue management requirements, credentialing and organisational policies.
  • Proactively identify and respond to workforce shortages, leave impacts, coverage risks and changing operational demand, including the coordination of surge and contingency workforce arrangements.
  • Partner with Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Operations and Clinical Services to align workforce forecasts, recruitment, mobilisation and readiness with operational requirements.
  • Use workforce data and analytics to monitor utilisation, vacancies, roster performance and deployment trends, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, workforce experience and operational performance.

About you

  • Significant experience leading complex workforce deployment, rostering, scheduling or workforce operations, ideally across multiple sites or a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Health Administration, Workforce Management, Human Resources or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent operational experience.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce scheduling, utilisation, service continuity and roster governance, with the ability to translate operational demand into practical workforce solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience using workforce management, rostering, scheduling or workforce analytics systems, with strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working across operational, workforce and senior leadership teams in complex service environments.
  • Experience within healthcare, Defence, government contracting, emergency management or another mission-critical 24/7 environment will be highly regarded, as will experience mobilising or scheduling regulated professional workforces.

This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the delivery of nationally significant healthcare services, helping build a workforce model that is responsive, efficient and ready to deliver when and where it is needed.

If you are an experienced workforce or rostering leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving operational environments, we want to hear from you. Apply today to join Aspen Medical’s Defence & National Security team.
