As a strategic industry partner with the Australian Defence Force, our Explosive Ordnance Services (EOS) team plays a critical role in the storage, distribution, maintenance and movement of ordnance across Australia, supporting military readiness and sovereign capability.

In this exciting role, you will have end-to-end responsibility for managing a high-performance logistics team supporting Thales Defence contracts nationwide. You’ll combine industry-leading best practice with a deeply embedded safety and compliance culture.

Your leadership will ensure all sensitive and high-value movements are executed safely, securely, and in full compliance with regulatory and client requirements.

Central to your role will be mentoring, nurturing, and developing our experienced and motivated team. You will foster a culture of support, continuous learning, and professional growth, ensuring each team member is equipped and empowered to perform at their best.

Working at our Orchard Hills site, on Darug land, your role purpose is to –

  • Champion safe, secure, and compliant national logistics for Defence Explosive Ordnance and Dangerous Goods.

  • Deliver seamless end-to-end transport, warehousing, and supply chain operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with all Defence, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Inspire and lead a high-performing national logistics team.

  • Safeguard accountability and governance for $3bn in critical inventory.

  • Drive continuous improvement and exceed operational KPIs.

  • Oversee third-party providers for efficient and reliable service delivery.

  • Forge strong partnerships with Defence, regulators, customers, and teams.

  • Advance logistics capability through innovation and digital transformation.

  • Strengthen Defence readiness with resilient, responsive logistics solutions.

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • Proven experience in transport, logistics or supply chain management, ideally within the Defence sector or hazardous materials

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, nurture, and develop high-performing teams

  • Ideally knowledge of Explosive Ordnance transport, storage, and distribution regulations

  • Exceptional people leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, security, and compliance best practice

  • High attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset

  • Ability to work site based

Good to Know

Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and (role dependent) medical checks.

A NV1 Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
