We're looking for an experienced National Business Development Manager to lead our Business Development team and drive specification-led growth across the UK. This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for developing national contractor and specification strategies, building key industry relationships, and ensuring opportunities convert into sustainable sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

As National Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Create and execute a national specification-led sales strategy that supports business growth and increases market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key national contractors, consultants, end users and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasting and effective pipeline management.
  • Drive demand for Electrium brands through upstream specification activity and customer engagement.
  • Work closely with the National Sales Manager Wholesale to ensure generated demand is prioritised and successfully converted into sales.
  • Collaborate with Siemens Technical Sales teams to maximise project specification and conversion opportunities.
  • Deliver annual specification value, pipeline conversion and sales targets across the national Business Development team.
  • Increase penetration of Wylex and Crabtree products within targeted contractor and specifier accounts.
  • Champion continuous improvement, customer focus and commercial excellence across the team.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering profitable growth.
  • Experience selling through specification, contractor and distributor channels.
  • Knowledge of the UK electrical wholesale and contractor markets.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and effectively manage a broad customer base.
  • A strong track record of building pipelines, delivering sales objectives and driving business growth.

Desirable

  • Experience leading a field-based sales team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility at all organisational levels.
  • Advanced IT skills, alongside strong written communication, analytical and numerical capabilities.
  • A growth mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and developing others.
  • Results-focused, highly accountable and commercially driven approach.
  • Collaborative and customer-centric leadership style.

What can we offer?

  • Performance-Based Bonus
  • Pension Plan: Secure your future with our generous pension scheme, with employer contributions up to 10%.
  • Time Off: Recharge and rejuvenate with 26 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays), and the option to buy or sell an additional 5 days!

We are fully committed to providing equal opportunities and building an inclusive workplace where a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives thrive. We embrace the many ways people think, learn, and experience the world—because we know that diverse minds drive innovation.
