TheOpportunity

This is a director-level, individual-contributor sales role for Autocar, America’s first specialized truck brand in North America and the only American-owned and operated original equipment manufacturer (OEM) building trucks exclusively for severe-duty vocational work.Autocar is positionedtowinintherefuseandenvironmentalservicesindustrywithproductsthatcompeteon performance,safety,reliability,andtotallifecyclecost.Wehavestrongcustomerrelationshipsand a clear foothold in the market.

As the National Accounts Fleet Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving sales growth by managingandgrowingAutocar’smoststrategicnationalfleetrelationshipsintherefusevocational sector across the country.We are open to proven national account leaders as well as exceptional emergingtalentwiththetrackrecord,industrycredibility,andcommercialcapabilitytosucceedat a director level.

WhatYouWillOwn

The National Accounts FleetDirectorserves as the primary commercial ownerofassignednational fleet relationships for large-fleet operators running 200 or more vehicles, developing strategies to meettheirneedswithanemphasisonunderstandingvocationalapplicationsandtruckcomponent functionality.Those relationships will be direct with fleet managers, district managers, operations directors, key decisionmakers, andC-suite executives.Youownthe relationshipdirectly withyour customers - we don’t delegate our relationships to third parties. When a customer has a truck down, they call our ALWAYS UP® factory support center and reach engineers who build Autocar trucks.

KeyResponsibilities

OwnNationalFleetAccounts:

  • Developandgrowdirectrelationshipswithkeynationalfleetcustomersintherefusevocational sector, focusing on operators running 200-plus vehicles.

  • Serve as the point of contact for national fleet customers – no channel conflict, no layers betweenyouandthecustomersyousupport-ensuringexceptionalserviceandaccountability from the factory.
  • Buildlong-cycle,trust-basedpartnerships grounded ina genuine understanding of vocational applications and truck component functionality, and the customer’s operational model, fleet economics, and performance pressures.
  • Increaserevenue,expandmarketshare,andstrengthenAutocar'spositionwithinstrategicfleet customers.

DriveNationalAccountGrowthThroughDirectSales

  • Drive national sales efforts by developing strategies tailored to the needs of large fleet customersintherefuseandvocationalsectors,alignedtotheirfleetreplacementcycles, capital budget timelines, and operational requirements.
  • Utilizing an in-depth understanding of vocational truck applications and component functionality, articulate the total cost of ownership case for Autocar trucks with rigor, connectingALWAYSUP®directfactorysupportanduptimeperformancetoquantifiablefleet economics.
  • Use fleet data, route assessment information, and market intelligence to identify fleet expansionopportunities,competitivereplacementopportunities,andgrowthwithinstrategic accounts.
  • Presentproposals,negotiatecontracts,andrepresentthecompanyinhigh-leveldiscussions, demonstrating deep industry knowledge and application expertise.
  • Serveastheprimarycommercialownerofassignednationalfleetrelationshipsandpartner cross-functionally to support fleet growth, customer retention, and strategic account expansion.

ConsultonCustomerNeeds

  • Conduct in-depth operational reviews with fleet managers, route managers, and district managerstodiagnosetruckspecificationrequirements,uptimegaps,andfleetperformance challenges.
  • TranslatecustomeroperationalrequirementsintoprecisetruckspecificationsacrossAutocar’s refuse product lines.
  • PartnerwithAutocar’sproductengineeringandproductionteamstorelaycustomer requirementsandfieldperformancedataleveragingthedirect-factorymodelasa competitive advantage – and ensuring every solution is buildable, supportable, and differentiated to meet your customer’s operational demands.

WhoYouAre

  • This role is designed for both experienced national account leaders and high-performing professionalswhohaveconsistentlyoperatedabovetheircurrentlevelandarereadytoassume director-level responsibility.Autocar invests in the right people.
  • You have at least 5-7 years of demonstrated success within the refuse industry (required industryexperience),owningcustomerrelationships,fleetoperations,orcommercialgrowth.

  • Youbring either:

-experience selling directly to end-user fleets as an OEM representative, manufacturer's directsalesrepresentative,orcomparablecommercialrolewithinthewasteindustry;or

-experienceinfleetmanagement,routemanagement,oroperationswithinthewaste industry.

  • Youpossessadeepunderstandingofrefuseoperations,fleeteconomics,truckspecifications, andtheoperationalchallengesfacedbyfleetcustomers.
  • Strongdifferentiatorsincluderelationshipsatnationalormajorregionalhaulers(WM,Republic, GFL, or comparable), expertise in refuse truck specs, or experience with municipal RFP procurement and private fleet buying processes.
  • Abachelor’sdegreeispreferredbutnotrequired.
  • Youarewillingtotravelweeklywithinyourassignedaccountportfoliotypicallyleavingyour home office on Monday and returning Thursday evening.
