Responsibilities

The Forklift Operator is tasked with the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment for the purpose of stacking, loading, storing, unloading, and moving finished goods.

This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety & quality are followed and complied with uniformly to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainings
  • Attendance is essential to perform duties
  • Always ensure regulatory compliance
  • Ability to safely operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts and other industrial vehicles such as rider pallet jack
  • Perform FIFO procedures for all materials and ingredients
  • Load and unload product from tractor trailers and store in designated areas
  • Perform basic quality assurance duties including visual inspection of finished goods products
  • Palletize materials/ingredients/finished products
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory by reporting and receiving authentication of all discrepancy in inventory
  • Attendance is essential to perform duties
  • Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies/procedures and incorporates safety and health in all job duties/tasks
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follows GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately
  • Ability to operate the Robot.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent years of experience
  • Power Industrial Truck Operator’s License
  • Basic power industrial truck operations
  • Must be able to operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Must understand product age specifications related to storage and supplying to production areas
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Fluency in a language other than English preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffs
  • Occasional bending and stooping
  • Frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking and repetitive hand movement
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
  • Manufacturing plant is a large, open floor, some areas have loud machineries, and some areas are wet

The pay range for this position is $20.20 to $25.50 per hour.
