K-8 Music Teacher

Start Date: 26/27 SY
Location: 6633 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033

Compensation Range: $48,331.25 - $54,571.88 (DOE)

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver standards-aligned music instruction that introduces students to foundational concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical expression.

  • Provide opportunities for students to engage in singing, movement, instrumental exploration, and music appreciation.

  • Design engaging lessons that encourage creativity, collaboration, and performance.

  • Differentiate instruction to support students of varying musical abilities and learning needs.

  • Assess student progress in musical skills, participation, and understanding of musical concepts.

Classroom Culture & Student Support

  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.

  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and engagement.

  • Encourage creativity, confidence, and respectful collaboration during musical activities and performances.

  • Ensure proper care and responsible use of musical instruments and classroom materials.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.

  • Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to support school-wide arts integration and student engagement initiatives.

  • Plan and support school performances, concerts, or events that showcase student learning.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement through reflective practice and collaboration.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student participation and progress in music.

  • Encourage family engagement through performances and school events.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school-wide activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Valid teaching certification in Music or a related subject area, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g., Music Education, Music Performance, Fine Arts, or similar field), OR

  • Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching or music instruction experience

Additionally, candidates must:

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

  • Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities

  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills

  • Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment

  • Pass required background checks and obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
