About the role
The Music Teacher
is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality music instruction that
inspires students to explore and appreciate music as an art form and form of
expression. The role includes teaching theory and performance, leading
ensembles or choirs, and integrating music into the broader curriculum. The
teacher fosters creativity, discipline, and intercultural understanding in line
with the school’s international ethos.
What you will be doing
1.Plan,
prepare, and deliver music lessons that meet curriculum standards (e.g.,
IB, Cambridge, or national frameworks).
2.Teach
music theory, appreciation, vocal and/or instrumental skills across
different age groups.
3.Develop
and adapt lesson plans to accommodate varied learning styles and skill
levels.
4.Integrate
technology and digital tools (e.g., music composition software, smart-boards) into instruction.
5.Encourage
creativity, self-expression, and confidence through individual and group
performances.
6.Organize
and direct school concerts, recitals, assemblies, and cultural events.
7.Prepare
students for internal and external performances, competitions, and
examinations.
8.Collaborate
with other teachers to support school-wide production and
interdisciplinary projects (e.g., drama, dance, or art).
9.Design
and update the school’s music curriculum in alignment with international
standards.
10.Assess
student progress through varied methods, performances, written work, and
practical assessments.
11.Maintain
records of student achievement and provide feedback for continuous
improvement.
12.Foster
an inclusive environment where all students can participate and grow
musically.
13.Identify
and nurture musical talent; provide guidance for advanced learners.
14.Encourage
teamwork, discipline, and appreciation of cultural diversity through
music.
15.Work
collaboratively with colleagues across subjects to enhance
cross-curricular learning.
16.Communicate
effectively with parents regarding student progress and participation.
17.Participate
in departmental meetings, school functions, and professional development
workshops.
Who we are
looking for:
Qualifications
& Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in music
education, Music Performance, or a related field.
Teaching certification or
qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., IB training) preferred.
Experience:
2–5 years of teaching experience,
preferably in an international or multicultural school environment.
Proficiency in at least one musical
instrument and/or vocal training.
Skills:
1. Strong musical proficiency and
understanding of music theory and pedagogy.
2. Effective classroom management and
communication skills.
3. Ability to inspire and engage students
from diverse cultural backgrounds.
4. Competence in using digital tools for
music instruction and production.
