Radio-Canada Libraries and Archives is seeking a Music Librarian to join its Music team.

In this role, you will apply your expertise in music and data management to acquire and catalogue digital tracks, supporting CBC/Radio-Canada’s production needs — from enhancing content discoverability to meeting regulatory requirements.

You will also advise production teams on music selection, source tracks for sound design, and help create or refine cataloguing rules, standards and procedures to ensure consistency across the organization.

Key Tasks:

  • Acquire music assets from producers, distributors and external sources to meet both ongoing and ad hoc production requirements.
  • Select and recommend music for broadcast and digital media based on input from production or other teams, offering expert guidance as needed.
  • Conduct research upon request to resolve inquiries and recommend solutions regarding music acquisition and cataloguing for managers and production staff.
  • Prepare reports as required.


This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.


This is a seven-month, full-time temporary position.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience performing similar or related duties.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of cataloguing rules.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse musical genres.
  • Proficiency with VML databases is an asset.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and a passion for research.
  • Interest in emerging media technologies.
  • Ability to read sheet music is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Strong command of French (working language).
