Job Description

MUSC Health – Midlands Division is seeking a skilled and collaborative Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Orthopedic Surgery team in Columbia, South Carolina. This team supports a regional footprint across Columbia, Elgin, and Camden, offering a unique opportunity to practice within a diverse and expanding patient population.

The Orthopedic Surgery APP will work closely with orthopedic surgeons across the continuum of care, supporting clinic operations, inpatient management, surgical coordination, and postoperative follow-up. Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced Practice Provider: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

  • Orthopedic, surgical, hospital medicine, or acute care experience preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient management skills

  • Passion for delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care

Position Highlights:

  • Manage orthopedic inpatients in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and hospital teams

  • Conduct daily rounding, patient evaluations, admissions, consultations, and discharges

  • Assist with perioperative care coordination and postoperative management

  • Support orthopedic surgical workflows and continuity of care across inpatient services

  • Participate in patient and family education to optimize recovery and outcomes

  • Collaborate closely with nursing, rehabilitation, case management, and ancillary teams

  • Contribute to a culture centered on teamwork, efficiency, and patient-centered care
