Course Description: This course examines acoustical principles, vocal repertoire, language, and genre and their pedagogical implication in both musical and vocal development. Clinical observation, voice habilitation, disorders, and supervised teaching projects complete the course. Studio development and management is included.

Class Schedule: Tuesdays 2 - 4pm

Months of contract: September 2026 to April 2027

Salary: $19,994.95

Qualifications: Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy and specialized experience teaching Voice Pedagogy at the university undergraduate or graduate level required. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in voice pedagogy research and its relationship to the classroom and teaching modules, including student teaching of children and adolescents and senescent students required. Knowledge of graded levels of classical, contemporary commercial music (CCM), and Canadian repertoire required.

Duties: Define course objectives; prepare course materials, class schedule and syllabus according to Faculty of Music graduate syllabus template and following University policies; administer and evaluate student assignments, and provide clear guidelines for the evaluation of assignments; provide timely teaching feedback; teach classes in person and maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside of scheduled class hours; organize and supervise the teaching project assisted by the TA; prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy.
