Community Justice Group Program & Murri Court
Queensland has more than 130 Magistrates Courts handling the majority of criminal matters. Courts operate across metropolitan, regional and remote communities to ensure all Queenslanders have fair and accessible justice.The CJG Program, supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through culturally informed justice processes. Murri Court involves Elders and Respected Persons who provide cultural insight and guidance to the Court, helping reduce over-representation and strengthening community-led support for defendants.
About the Role
The Administration Officer plays a key role in supporting Murri Court operations and the Brisbane Murri Elders Community Justice Group across the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts.
You will work alongside the Murri Court Coordinator, Court Support Officer and Elders/Respected Persons to ensure smooth, culturally responsive court processes.
This position is employed through Five Bridges, the auspice organisation responsible for governance, HR and management of the Community Justice Group.
Key Responsibilities Include
• Contact clients and complete Entry Reports (approx. 6+ per week)
• Arrange referrals based on Entry Report outcomes
• Coordinate client attendance for report signing
• Provide completed reports to the Murri Court Coordinator
• Engage professionally across phone, email and in-person interactions
• Attend court sittings to support victims and offenders and connect victims with relevant support and legal services
• Organise bi-monthly CJG meetings and record accurate minutes
• Maintain administrative systems, filing and operational records
• Assist in creating rosters and coordinating CJG member attendance
• Process invoices and support financial administration
• Maintain personal Blue Card and oversee the CJG blue card register
• Prepare reports for Five Bridges, DJAG and the CJG
• Provide general support to Five Bridges staff, the CEO and Community Programs Manager
Knowledge & Experience Required
• Strong administration skills and excellent attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to touch type
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
• Experience coordinating meetings and office processes
• Qualifications in Business or Business Administration (desirable)
