SUMMARY OF POSITION:

  • The Pultrusion Operator works as part of a team performing various tasks in the production area of pultrusion and MAT areas of pultrusion. These tasks may vary based on the daily needs in the pultrusion area and MAT areas. Other duties may be assigned by the department manager as needed.

3rd shift: 6:45 pm -7:15 am

12-hour shifts

36 hours one week & 48 hours the next week 2 days ON, 2 days OFF, 3 days ON, 2 days OFF

  • New hires will have check-ins at 60 days to ensure they have the support and resources needed for success. This check-in does not affect pay, as pay increases occur at 90 days and 6 months after hire.
  • Performance evaluations happen the month before your service anniversary

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Noise levels require hearing protection in designated areas
  • Safety glasses required along with needed personal protective equipment
  • Seasonal high temperatures and humidity
  • Moderate to fast-paced work
  • Requires frequent handling of glass and other product materials
  • Will have frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Will require the handling of fiberglass materials, resin composite, clean-up solvents (including their hazardous waste byproducts) including but not limited to material such as:
  • Resin base Unsaturated polyester resins
  • Styrene
  • Alcohol
  • Norox 802-75P
  • Techlube
  • Accrastrip

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the proper collection, storage, and labeling of identified hazardous waste to ensure compliance with federal and state RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
  • Ensure collection buckets for waste resin drool are properly labeled and remain closed throughout the process except when adding or removing material.
  • Adhere to written procedures for the “kicking” of waste resin to ensure complete polymerization and solidification for disposal as non-hazardous waste.
  • Support contingency plan implementation and emergency response.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures established for the safe handling, management, and reporting of a hazardous waste generated.
  • Maintains work area free of resin spillage.
  • Mix resin and deliver it to the machines
  • Cut mats and delivers to machines
  • Performs TPM on resin room
  • Performs TPM on mat cutter
  • Reports on the yield and scrap of cut material to department manager
  • Delivers doffs to creel
  • Maintains the creel and ties in doffs as needed
  • Delivers all operating supplies to the machines such as gloves, towels, acetone, etc. in order for operator to remain in work area
  • Change out resin bucket
  • Must have the ability to operate powered equipment
  • Ability to work with and around moving equipment
  • Perform TPM on saws, dust collectors, etc.
  • Learns and performs repetitive job tasks
  • Regular/dependable attendance required
  • Flexibility of working hours including overtime
  • Comply with safety, quality, and production requirements/procedures
  • Good housekeeping
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aid and assist pultrusion operator in their daily job functions as needed
  • Relief operator
  • Understanding of the pultrusion process
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Other duties as assigned by department manager
  • General knowledge of PLC control
  • Completion of initial Large Quantity Generator (LQG) hazardous waste training within 6-months of assignment.
  • Completion of annual LQG hazardous waste refresher training.

SKILLS AND TALENTS:

  • Working knowledge of basic math

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Knowledge and use of hand tools
  • Ability to read dial calipers, micrometers, surface meters, scales and other measuring equipment
  • General knowledge of PLC controls (Programmable Logic Controllers). Does not include programming.

  • Use of measurement devices and follows SOP procedures

  • Previous training/experience with hazardous waste regulations preferred but not required.

  • Generate up to 15 lbs. of pinch strength up to an occasional basis with each hand while handling products
  • Display average coordination with both hands up to a continuous basis while performing job tasks
  • Perform elevated work up to an occasional basis when handling products
  • Stoop, kneel or squat up to an occasional basis when handling products
  • Reach forward and to the side up to a frequent basis when handling products
  • Stand up to a continuous basis and walk up to a frequent basis during each shift
