
Synechron is seeking a highly skilled Murex Automation Engineer to develop and maintain automation solutions supporting the testing and validation of trading and back-office processes within the Murex platform. This role focuses on designing, executing, and optimizing automated test scripts using MXTest, ensuring end-to-end trade lifecycle validation and data integrity. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in financial systems, automation frameworks, and Murex configurations to ensure high-quality deployments, support system stability, and advance automation maturity.
Software Requirements
Required:
Proven experience with MXTest automation framework in Murex environments (5+ years)
Hands-on expertise in end-to-end trade lifecycle testing, especially trade capture to Back Office validations
Strong understanding of Back Office processes and SWIFT ISO 20022 messages support
Knowledge of SQL and Unix/Linux for data validation and scripting
Familiarity with trade lifecycle management and trade validation tools
Good debugging, troubleshooting, and technical support skills
Preferred:
Experience in financial services related to capital markets, banking, or trading platforms
Exposure to automation tools like UFT, Selenium, or equivalent for regression testing
Hands-on with continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and cloud testing environments
Overall Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts to validate end-to-end trading, booking, and back-office workflows
Perform comprehensive trade lifecycle validation using MXTest, including SWIFT messages and external integrations
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve automation or configuration issues in a timely manner
Collaborate with functional teams to understand business requirements and develop validation scenarios
Maintain detailed documentation on test scripts, test results, and defect logs
Support regression testing cycles, ensuring high test coverage and system stability
Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
Continuously evaluate and improve automation scripts, frameworks, and testing strategies
Support integration and QA teams by providing technical expertise during testing phases
Contribute to ongoing process improvements in automation standards and practices
Technical Skills (By Category)
Languages & Scripting:
Required: MXTest scripting, SQL, Unix shell scripting
Preferred: Python, Java, or other scripting languages supporting automation and data validation
Trade & Back-Office Knowledge:
Familiarity with trade lifecycle flows, SWIFT messaging standards, and Back Office processes (especially in capital markets)
Tools & Frameworks:
MXTest automation framework
SQL Query tools for data validation
DevOps tools: Jenkins, Git (for version control)
Platforms & Protocols:
Experience with SWIFT ISO 20022 messages and trade message standards
Basic understanding of secure file transfer protocols and encryption practices in financial messaging
Experience Requirements
4+ years of experience in automation testing within the Murex platform or similar financial systems
Proven track record in end-to-end trade lifecycle validation and automation in trading or banking environments
Solid experience in SQL, Unix/Linux scripting, and system troubleshooting
Familiarity with financial messaging standards like SWIFT ISO 20022 is desired
Experience working with cross-functional teams supporting project execution and deployment in an agile environment
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop, review, and execute MXTest automation scripts for new feature testing and regression cycles
Validate trade and back-office processes end-to-end, including message standards and system integrations
Troubleshoot automation failures, optimize scripts, and ensure accuracy of test results
Collaborate with functional, operational, and QA teams on validation scenarios and defect resolution
Maintain thorough documentation of scripts, test cases, and defect tracking logs
Support deployment activities, regression testing, and verification across multiple releases
Participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups
Continuously explore new tools, industry standards, and best practices in financial automation testing
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or equivalent technical discipline
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Murex testing/automation, especially MXTest automation
Experience with trade lifecycle workflows and financial messaging standards (SWIFT ISO 20022)
Proven experience in end-to-end validation, automation framework development, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of SQL, Unix/Linux scripting, and configuration management in financial systems
