Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for multiple tenured faculty positions at the associate or full professor rank in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Department of Intelligent Systems Design, in the field of microelectronics, circuits, and system design. We seek candidates who can teach and lead research in one or more of the following areas: analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits; digital VLSI and AI hardware systems; advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration; and power electronics and energy-integrated microsystems.
We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of these domains and complement existing strengths within the department. We particularly welcome candidates whose work leverages innovative computational techniques and connects microelectronic circuits and systems with computing, AI, sensing, security, radiation effects, healthcare, or other emerging application domains.
These 10‐month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. All applications received prior to October 16, 2026, will receive full consideration; applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed until all positions are filled.
Responsibilities: Tenured/tenure-track faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring a diverse population of students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service within the department, school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community. These positions are located on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB) in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the IUB campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community. Indiana University bases its tenure and promotion recommendations upon performance in three areas including research, teaching, and service. All individuals hired through this initiative are expected to excel in research and provide strong performance in teaching and service.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should possess a PhD in engineering (or a related field) and be committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Candidates for appointment with tenure positions must demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for an appointment with tenure, including extramurally funded research as a corresponding principal investigator, current funding or strong potential to secure external funding, established record of publications and scholarly work, and experience leading sizeable research initiatives.

The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University is the first of its kind and among the largest in the country. The Luddy School is a core school with programs on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campus and includes over 150 faculty and 3000 students on the Bloomington campus. Departments on the Luddy School’s Bloomington campus include Computer Science, Information and Library Science, Informatics, and Intelligent Systems Engineering.
Successful candidates will join a growing, interdisciplinary microelectronics community spanning the Luddy School and IU CREATE, with strengths in reliable and trusted electronics, radiation effects, extreme-environment and cryogenic electronics, AI hardware, photonics, security, and related areas. The new faculty will also have the opportunity to help shape IU’s expanding microelectronics research and educational programs, including the new degrees in Electrical Engineering and Microelectronics.
